Terms of use

Last updated September 30, 2026

By using Checkfirst you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or post reviews. You can read reviews without an account.

Who runs the site

Checkfirst is a non-commercial project run by victor ostapushchenko (an individual, not a company). It carries no advertising and is not sold. Contact details are on the contact page.

Your account

  • An account needs only a username and a password. We do not ask for an e-mail address.
  • You get a one-time recovery code when you sign up. If you lose your password and your recovery code, the account cannot be recovered.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password and recovery code private.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account page.

Reviews

  • Reviews must follow the review guidelines.
  • You are responsible for what you write. A review is your own opinion about your own experience, and must be true to the best of your knowledge.
  • You keep your rights in your review. By posting it you give Checkfirst a free, non-exclusive licence to show it on the site, including after you delete your account (see below), and to keep it for legal and audit purposes.
  • One review per website per person. You can edit or delete your review at any time.
  • When you delete your account, your username, password and other personal details are erased, but your published reviews stay online under the name "Former user".

Moderation

Reviews are checked automatically and may be held, rejected or removed by a moderator. We tell you why, and you can appeal once. We may also remove a website's page or merge duplicate pages. Decisions are recorded in an audit log.

Reports, legal notices and court orders

Anyone can send a notice about a review through the report form. Where a review is shown to be unlawful or to break these terms after a notice, we may remove it without a court order. We also comply with valid court orders. For crimes or civil wrongs against honour, liability for a review generally requires a specific court order (Marco Civil da Internet, art. 19), but we may remove content after an out-of-court notice, and we publish an annual transparency report about the notices we receive and the actions we take.

No guarantees

Reviews are opinions of their authors. We do not verify them, and we do not endorse any website listed here. The site is provided as it is, without promises of availability or accuracy. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for losses resulting from use of the site or from content posted by its users.

Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed; continuing to use the site means you accept the new version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil.
