Review guidelines
Last updated September 30, 2026
Checkfirst exists so people can check a website's reputation before they buy, sign up or pay. That only works if reviews are honest. These rules apply to every review.
What a review must be
- A description of a real experience you had with the website.
- Written by you, in your own words, about what actually happened and when.
What is not allowed
- Personal data about anyone: names with contact details, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, CPF or other document numbers, home addresses.
- Hate speech, threats, harassment or insults.
- Reviews of a website you own, work for or compete with.
- Reviews written in exchange for payment, discounts or any other benefit.
- The same text posted for several websites, or copied from another review.
- Links and advertising.
Automatic checks
Every new or edited review goes through automatic checks. A review that passes them is published at once. A review that trips one (for example it contains a link, a phone number or an offensive word, or the website is suddenly receiving many reviews) is held until a moderator has looked at it. You can see the status of your own review on the website's page.
When a review is removed
A moderator can reject a held review or remove a published one, for example after a report from another user or a legal notice. You are told the reason in your account. You can appeal once from the website's page; a removed review can also be replaced on the page by a short note saying it was removed and why, if you ask for that when you appeal.
Reporting a review
Logged-in users can report a review with the "Report" button under it. Anyone, with or without an account, can use the report form to send a notice about content they believe is unlawful or breaks these rules.
